Tropical Battery to set-up Express Outlets at Total Gas Stations

Tropical has entered an exclusive arrangement with Total Jamaica Ltd., a subsidiary of Total Petroleum of France. This agreement allows Tropical Battery to establish Tropical Express outlets within the Total gas stations. This agreement gives us direct access to high traffic volume and is beneficial to Total as it attracts customers to their locations due to the added service offered at the locations. Two of these locations are already in operation and showing the potential of this agreement. Total currently has 23 outlets in Jamaica and has an aggressive plan to increase that number in the next few years. We expect approximately 20% of these locations will have a Tropical Battery Express on site.

Introducing Tropical Disc Brake Pads and Tropical Brake and Clutch Fluid

As of June 2005, Tropical Battery will introduce Tropical Disc Brake Pads and Tropical Brake and Clutch Fluid. This is seen as an area of opportunity as one of the main distributors of these products in Jamaica has recently gone through a major restructuring exercise and is unable to meet market demand. These products also fit well into Tropical Battery’s portfolio of products as they are automotive necessity items similar to batteries, tyres, and oil. For any other new products to be added to the lines offered by the company, the concentration will be on necessity items.

Tropical Battery acquires Autopower Battery

Combined with Tropical Battery sales, this gives Tropical Battery an estimated 75 – 78% market share in the battery distribution business.
